The Dose and Dry Kit
The FabricCareLab kit for dosing every load by what it weighs, and drying every fiber at the heat it takes
FabricCareLab's Detergent Dosing Calculator scales the dose by what a load weighs, 15 ml of standard detergent a kilogram, more in hard water and less in soft. Nothing on the site weighs a load: the Laundry Load Size Calculator gives the drum's recommended maximum, and typed into the dosing calculator that doses every load as if it filled the drum. The Drying Time Estimator times any heat on any fabric at a medium spin, while the Wash Temperature Guide sets the spin by fiber and the Fibre Care Reference sets the heat by the wash cycle. The Dose and Dry Kit puts them together. In its worked example an 8 kg washer's line of 6.8 kg asks for 127.5 ml in hard water, above the example label's own 110 ml maximum. Weighed, the household's four loads need 71.3, 97.5, 58.5 and 16.9 ml: 244.2 ml a week against 440 even at the label's cap, $63.49 a year against $114.40. A mixed load of polyester and elastane washes at its strictest fiber, 20 to 30 degrees C on a low spin, and each load dries at the heat its wash cycle points to, timed against your own dryer. Every worked figure is an example you replace with your own washer, water and detergent. No dose in the kit goes above the highest dose on your detergent's label, the garment's care label comes first, and the safety floor covers pods out of children's reach, never mixing bleach with ammonia or acids, solvents with ventilation, and dryer fire safety. You get a 25-page printable PDF with seven steps, a load log, a dosing card, a wash-week planner, reference tables, a fiber table, the safety floor and a quickstart, plus a personalised sheet worked out from the numbers you entered in our calculators.

What is in it
- Weigh the load, not the drum: the dose by what each load weighs dry
- Read your water: the dose across soft, medium and hard water and every soil level
- Cap it at the label: no dose above your detergent's highest dose, concentrates by their own chart
- Fill to the tumble line: each load under its line, the lower line when two apply
- The strictest fiber: one water, cycle and spin for a mixed load
- The fiber's own heat: each load dried at the heat its wash cycle points to, timed on your own dryer
- The week and the bottle: detergent a week, loads a bottle and cost a load, counted from your doses
- Working pages: a load log, a dosing card and a wash-week planner
- Reference tables, the fiber table and the safety floor: pods, bleach mixing, solvents and the dryer
- A quickstart, and a personalised sheet worked from the numbers you entered
- ✓ 25 printable pages
- ✓ 10 sections, worksheets and templates

The kit picks up where the free Detergent Dosing Calculator and Drying Time Estimatorleave off. The dosing calculator scales the dose by what the load weighs, and nothing on the site weighs a load; the drying estimator times any heat on any fabric. The kit weighs each load dry, doses it for your water and never above the highest dose on your detergent’s label, fills to the tumble line, washes a mixed load at its strictest fiber’s settings, dries each fiber at the heat it takes, and counts what a bottle really does. The detergent’s label and the garment’s care label come first wherever they differ. The worked figures are examples; your own washer, water and detergent replace them.
